Yesterday's weather in Eau Claire was cool and blustery. The sunshine, however, decided to grace the Chippewa Valley with its presence throughout most of the day. As a whole, the skies remained partly cloudy with no precipitation. In the following pictures, taken at 3:00 pm yesterday (3/12/13), you can see shearing occuring between cirrus and fair weather cumulus humilis clouds. The edges of the clouds are soft and appear air-brushed, indicating cold clouds of ice crystals. The shearing of the high level (5,000-13,000m) and low level (surface-2,000m) indicates different air masses moving in. The low pressure air mass that brought the cumulus humilis clouds yesterday was a good indicator that today would be a day with nicer conditions.
