Rain and Snow and Hail, Oh My!

Welcome to the ramblings of a young weather enthusiast following and forecasting the zany weather conditions of Eau Claire, Wisconsin!

It is most definitely a shame that this blog was not started a few days ago. Within the last 100 hours, Eau Claire has experienced water in all its precipitating forms. The city made rapid shifts from thunderstorms to hail to sleet to snow. As if that weren't enough, a drastic increase in temperature caused the streets of Eau Claire to fill with melt water as if spring had come early. Just hours later, the hopes of gondola rides ceased as the melt water froze back to a rippling ice sea slick enough to delay UW-Eau Claire classes the following morning. To add to this slick surface, a fresh blanket of snow fell from the Eau Claire sky and dropped temperatures back to the bone-chilling level in which one remember that the bus stop is much closer than the classroom.

Currently, we are a few light kisses from the snow gods. Bundle up during your treks outside today, since the temperature will not reach much above the current 6 degrees F today. Expect it to get nippier.

Stay tuned, folks! Eau Claire's winter wonderland still has a few tricks up its sleeves!
