Goodbye Fair Weather, Here Comes More Dismal

We are currently experiencing a high pressure system in Wisconsin. A low, however, is approaching from the western part of the country that formed over the Rockies.

This approaching low pressure system will bring poor weather conditions with it. It is anticipated that Western Wisconsin will see a series of three weather systems hitting the area over the next five days. The fair weather and mostly clear skies will be leaving the area with the eastward moving high pressure system. These conditions will be replaced by a blanket of clouds tonight as the weak low pressure system and warm front move into the area. Light snow is possible over the next twelve hours, leaving up to an inch of accumulation.

The second and third weather systems that will pass through Eau Claire over the next five days will getting exceedingly stronger with each passing system. More accumulation can be expected from each system, as each will be carrying more moisture than the previous.

The current temperature in Eau Claire, WI is 22 degrees F, hitting a high of 33 degrees F today.

Temperatures are expected to drop over the weekend as cold Canadian winds come down from the north, bringing our average temperatures to 10 degrees F lower than normal.

Winds right now in Eau Claire are remaining relatively calm, with a few 3 mph wind gusts coming out of the W/SW.

The current wind directions in the nation reflect the jet stream across the country.

In the following map, you can see the water vapor in the air across the country. The more prominent area of water vapor to the west is indicative of the approaching low pressure system.

Current relative humidity in Eau Claire, WI is at 63 percent with a dew point of 10 degrees F.
