Winter's Back...

As the day and this winter storm comes to a close, we can reflect on the weather over the past day two days. Yesterday, snow flurries began early on and continued throughout the day with bitterly cold E/NE winds. The snow precipitation picked up overnight and dumped over six inches in Eau Claire, with some residents reporting 8 inches of accumulation. This slicked the roads and caused school cancellations across the Eau Claire area today. At the warmest point today, we reached 27 degrees F. At this time (12:25 pm), we were still experiencing moderate snow precipitation from overcast skies.

Local Dew Point

Tonight, our low is 12 degrees F with a 30% chance of snow showers and 75% humidity. It will feel like -6 degrees F with the wind chill. The wind pattern has now shifted from E/NE to W/NW, indicating that we are out of the woods for this winter storm. Currently, we are experiencing 11 mph wind gusts. Although we have seen the brunt of this winter storm already in our area, the eastern United States is bracing itself for just as much accumulation and the posibility of some massive power outages. I feel that the coast will recieve less accumulating precipitation than forecasted, though.
