Here Comes the Sun!

Welcome to the first day of meteorological spring!

As predicted, last night's thick cloud cover and cold wind gusts continued through the remainder of the evening. Although we are still experiencing nose-nipping winds at 7 mph with gusts up to 10 mph out of the north, the sun has finally decided to make more of an appearance today in the Chippewa Valley. The skies are currently mostly cloudy with stratocumulus clouds. This is a good indicator that the weather will remain precipitation-free today.

Our current relative humidity is only 55%. The dew point is sitting at 12 degrees F. The current barometric pressure reading for Eau Claire is 30.31 in Hg and steady.

Smurf massacre in our parking lot. With the sun's rays beating down today, it would be a great time to throw down some ice melt on your thickly iced parking lots and sidewalks to amp up the melting today. There is enough blue ice melt strewn across my parking lot right now that one might mistake it for a Smurf massacre site.

Temperatures will continue to climb to about 30 degrees F by early afternoon. Our current temperature in Eau Claire is 26 degrees F with a real feel of 17 degrees F with those blustery Canadian winds. Cloud cover will continue to decrease with these drier northern winds. The week will continue to improve, getting sunnier and warmer as the week progresses and a high pressure system moves into the area by the weekend. We won't have to worry about any winter weather storms blowing through the Chippewa Valley until Monday or Tuesday. To get you excited about spring weather, the average high temperature for the end of March is 50 degrees F, so get ready to lose a few layers!
